Common Lease Questions
Car Leasing allows customers to drive a new car for a fixed period usually between 24 and 60 months for a regular monthly payment. It’s hassle free, simple to set up and enables you to drive a brand new car every 2 to 5 years
Anyone, providing you’re over 18, are based in the UK, can provide evidence of affordability, and pass a credit check.
The best leasing rates available are based on customers with a good to excellent credit rating, whilst we can provide alternative quotations for customers with a lower credit score, the rate that they’ll be offered will be higher.
There are several stages to lease: -
- Request a quotation
- Complete an application form
- Order the vehicle
- Take delivery of the vehicle
- Drive the vehicle for the agreed period
- Arrange to hand the vehicle back
Let’s investigate each of these sections in a little more detail.
- You request your tailored quotation, with mileage options available from 5,000 miles per annum. You select the initial payment that you’d like to put down. The higher the initial payment, the lower the monthly rental will become. This is not a deposit amount; you will not get this amount back at the end of the contract. You can select how many years that you’d like the lease to be over, usually between 2 and 5 years. Most leasing companies will allow an annual mileage of up to 50,000 miler per annum but with a maximum mileage of 120,000 miles at the end of the contract. This means that if you drive 50,000 miles per annum, you would be unable take out a 5-year lease.
- You can complete a finance application online – the website contains the https lock, so you can rest assured that your data is safe and secure. The application will require your personal details, along with bank information to access your personal status and affordability. It can take up to 48 hours for us to hear back from the underwriters and additional information may be requested.
- Once you have been approved for finance, we’ll raise your vehicle order paperwork with your approval. Once this is signed and returned, we’ll secure your order with the supplying dealer and arrange the finance paperwork with the funder. We’ll talk you through the whole process and will be on hand to help navigate you through the process.
- We will arrange for your new lease car to be delivered to your home or work address. Deliveries take place Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 18:00. We can not guarantee a time of delivery, but usually ask that the driver contacts you one hour in advance so that you don’t have to wait in all day.
- Your initial payment will be taken from your account approximately 14 days after delivery. Your monthly repayments will begin one calendar month after delivery. It is your responsibility to service and maintain the vehicle in line with manufacturer guidelines. The funder will pay for the road fund license each year and will usually send you an e-mail notification confirming that this has been renewed. You must arrange fully comprehensive car insurance for the duration of the lease.
- At the end of the contract, you’ll be contacted by a representative acting on behalf of the funder, this is usually BCA. They’ll agree a date and time to inspect the vehicle. If they arrange the collection of the vehicle the same day, they usually send you over a document detailing what wear and tear is acceptable and what would be classed as consequential damage and recharged. All funders are members of the BVRL so work within their remit when it comes to acceptable wear and tear for a now used vehicle. You are then free to begin a new lease.
Personal contract hire is designed to drive a vehicle for a fixed period and hand the car back at the end of the contract. Whereas PCP is a purchasing solution. At the end of the period, you have 3 options, 1, hand the vehicle back, 2, part-exchange the vehicle, 3, pay the balloon and keep the car.
No, contract hire is designed to drive a new vehicle for a fixed period. If your circumstance change mid-way through the lease, you would need to pay an early termination fee to end the lease early. This can be as much as 90% of the outstanding rentals depending on how far into the lease you are. You would need to contact the finance company for a settlement figure at the time.
This is the profile of the rental. A 1+23, means an initial rental amount equivalent to 23 payments, so a 2 year contract, whereas a 3+35, means an initial rental equivalent to 3 monthly rentals plus 35 extra payments, so a 3 year lease agreement.
