How Business and Personal Car Leasing Works
Most lease contracts are based on brand new cars, unless otherwise stated. You select the contract that suits you by choosing the contract length, annual mileage and initial payment, which in turn will give a fixed monthly payment.
A lease is very similar to buying a car, the main difference being that the vehicle is registered to the leasing company and not you. This means that the leasing company will liaise with the DVLA to renew the road tax each year. You're able to choose the make, model and any optional equipment, bear in mind that any additional equipment will effect the rental. Excess mileage charges will apply to every contract should you exceed the contracted mileage.
Contract Hire is a form of funding, therefore a credit search will need to take place. This search will not be ran by National Vehicle Solutions and instead will be one of our lenders. All leasing companies have varying underwriting criteria, so if you're accepted for finance with one, this does not automatically grant a credit line through another. All of the deals that appear on our site are through different funders. It can take up to 48 hours to hear back from the funders with their decision, but we'll keep you informed throughout the process.
Once we have a finance approval in place, we'll contact you and send your order paperwork via e-mail. Sometimes our special offers can have delivery time or registration constraints, if this is the case we'll have notified you at point of quotation and this will appear on your order form. You'll receive your lease agreement via e-mail, our friendly staff will talk you through the National vehicle Solutions process.
Maintenance packages are available with all car leasing deals, ask us for details. If you decide not to take this option you will have a non maintained agreement and be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the vehicle throughout the lease. A manufacturers warranty is included, most manufacturers include breakdown cover for a fixed period as part of their standard warranty.
It's important that time is taken to appraise the vehicle, ensuring that when the vehicle is delivered it is free from any damage. Driven UK mainland delivery is included as standard with most contracts, however sometimes when sold from stock, depending on your location delivery charges may apply. This would be communicated at point of quotation, allowing you the opportunity to consider all associated costs. Transported delivery can be arranged at an additional charge.
As a member of the BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association) when you come to the end of your lease agreement and prepare to hand the car back, the agent who collects the car will be directed by the fair wear and tear guide. This guide is written with the understanding that the lease cars are no longer brand new vehicles and therefore do allow for elements of wear. The guide distinguishes between acceptable levels of wear and what is categorised as damage.
