This calculator provides illustrative estimates only and does not guarantee actual savings. Costs will vary depending on your vehicle, mileage, driving style, vehicle efficiency, fuel prices, electricity tariff, charging behaviour, charging losses and other factors. Electricity tariffs and fuel prices can change.

With those default figures, the calculator produces approximately the same comparison as your graphic: at 20,000 miles per year, 40 MPG and £1.58/litre, fuel is about £3,591 a year. At 3 miles/kWh, an EV would use around 6,667kWh; at 26.1p/kWh that's about £1,740, while at 8p/kWh it's about £533.

That's a potential illustrative saving of roughly £3,058 a year / £255 a month.

Smart charging that works around you

An Ohme home charger does more than simply supply electricity to your car.

Connect your vehicle, use the Ohme app to tell it when you need your car ready and set your charging requirements.

With a compatible electricity tariff, Ohme can schedule charging around lower-cost periods, helping you make better use of cheaper electricity.

You can also monitor charging through the Ohme app, giving you more control over when your EV charges and what your charging is costing.

Both the current Home Pro and ePod offer dynamic smart charging, energy-tariff integration and smartphone app control.

Plug in. Charge at home. Wake up ready to go.

For many EV drivers, home charging is one of the biggest advantages of making the switch.

Instead of relying on public chargers for everyday driving, you can plug your EV in when you get home and charge while the car is parked.

For many drivers, that means waking up with the vehicle ready for the day ahead.

Ohme EV Charger FAQs

A tethered EV charger has its charging cable permanently attached. You simply take the charging lead from the unit and plug it into your vehicle.

An untethered charger has a socket instead, so you connect a separate compatible charging lead when you want to charge.

The Ohme Home Pro is tethered, making it particularly convenient for everyday charging.

The Ohme ePod is untethered, providing a compact and tidy installation when it isn't being used.

The Ohme Home Pro comes with a 5-metre Type 2 tethered cable as standard. An 8-metre version is also available for customers who need additional reach.

The Ohme ePod is untethered. Ohme currently offers 5-metre and 8-metre charging cables as optional extras.

The best option will depend on where your charger is located, where you normally park and the position of the charging port on your vehicle.

The Ohme Home Pro and ePod provide a maximum output of 7.4kW / 32A on a suitable 230V domestic supply.

Actual charging time depends on your vehicle's battery capacity, maximum AC charging rate and how much energy is already in the battery.

As a simple example, a car accepting the full 7.4kW could theoretically receive around 7.4kWh of energy each hour, although real-world charging times can vary.

For many EV drivers, the easiest routine is simply to plug in when they get home and charge overnight.

Yes. Ohme smart chargers can integrate with compatible electricity tariffs and schedule charging around lower-cost periods.

You can manage charging through the Ohme app, including setting when you need your vehicle ready.

The amount you actually save will depend on your electricity provider, tariff, vehicle efficiency and charging behaviour.

Having off-street parking such as a driveway, garage or private parking space generally makes a home charger installation more straightforward.

However, not having a driveway does not automatically mean an EV charger is impossible.

Ohme advises that customers with on-street parking may still be eligible in certain circumstances. If a charging cable would need to cross public land, additional permissions and an appropriate compliant solution may be required.

Complete the enquiry form and we'll help establish what options may be available for your property.
